The holiday season is a time for gathering and sharing meals. To reduce waste, buy only what you need, be mindful of portions, and separate scraps. This Thanksgiving, place uneaten food and food scraps from holiday meals into the green organics bin instead of the trash. This helps the City reduce harmful emissions and supports a cleaner, more sustainable community.
What Goes in the Green Organics Bin:
» Fruit and vegetable scraps
» Turkey bones and leftover meat
» Bread, grains, and pasta
» Eggshells
» Coffee grounds and filters

To make it easier, the City is offering free kitchen compost pails at City Hall. To use them, line your pail with a clear plastic bag, fill it with food scraps, tie it securely, and place it in your green organics bin!
Together, small steps like these make a big impact toward reducing waste and protecting the community’s environment.
