Recycling is easier than you think and a little know-how goes a long way! In fact, many items that we toss out every day can go right into your Blue Recycling Cart. Paper, metal, plastic, and glass items can be recycled into new products, but they need to be in the proper condition to do so.
Here are 3 important considerations to have when recycling:
» Ensure items are dry and clean, especially paper products
» Containers are completely empty/ rinsed of contents, e.g., food & liquids
» Look for labels that indicate plastic types that can be recycled, e.g. #1, #2, & #5
Make sure that shrink wrap, Styrofoam packaging or packing ‘peanuts’, and wax-coated containers such as coffee cups and food boxes go into your black waste cart
