For many who move on from middle school to high school and beyond, the friends you meet often come and go. Over time, contact is lost as friends move away or simply move on. Reunions for middle school classmates are rare, but one special group from Saint Marianne School, a private school here in the City, has defied the odds.
This group, part of the eighth-grade class of 1977, made a commitment to stay in touch after graduating from high school, and they’ve kept that promise for nearly five decades.
They reconnect every 4 to 5 years to keep their friendships going and growing. Because they essentially grew up together, they relate to each other in a way few others can. While they make every effort to meet, things happen, and there may be more time in between meetings. The great thing about this group is that they can pick up right where they left off, like nothing ever happened.
The Saint Marianne’s class of 1977 included 68 students. As their 50th reunion approaches in 2027, the group hopes to see many familiar faces once again.
