Veterans Administration (VA) benefits will be updated for residents who regularly receive payments through the VA. Below are the most current updates that will go into effect on December 1, 2025:
» 2026 Disability rates: The 2026 VA disability rates, which include a 2.8% COLA, become effective on December 1, 2025.
» First payment with new rate: The first VA payment reflecting the new COLA will be issued on December 31, 2025, as it is the last business day of the month.
» 2.8% COLA increase: VA disability compensation payments will increase by 2.8%, effective December 1, 2025, with veterans seeing the new rate in their January 2026 payments.
» Alignment with Social Security: This increase matches the 2.8% COLA for Social Security, a change mandated by 2024 Congressional legislation.
» Impact: The adjustment will provide some financial relief for millions of veterans and their families as they face persistent high costs for essentials like housing, food, and healthcare.
» Benefit eligibility: Veterans with a 10% or higher disability rating automatically qualify for the COLA increase.
