City to Offer Youth Excursion to See Stand and Deliver

The City’s Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a trip for young area residents between the ages of 12 and 18 to see “Stand and Deliver” at the La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, December 3, from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.

This play is based on the Oscar-nominated film, Stand and Deliver, which is the compelling true story of Jaime Escalante, a dedicated East Los Angeles teacher who surmounts overwhelming odds in his quest to turn inner-city students into whiz kids.

Tickets are $10 and include bus transportation. Departure and return location is the Pico Rivera Youth Center, 4632 Orange St. Registrations are accepted until Monday, December 1. Registrations are taken online at picoriveraca.myrec.com. Limited space is available, so register early to guarantee your spot on the bus.
