Statewide Special Election

The State of California will be holding a Statewide Special Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. City of Pico Rivera residents will soon receive a ballot for this Statewide Special Election regarding Proposition 50, formally titled the Use of Legislative Congressional Redistricting Map Amendment.

Proposition 50, if approved by the voters, would authorize the State to use a new congressional district map established under Assembly Bill 604 (AB 604). This map would be used for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections. Following the 2030 Census, the authority for congressional redistricting would return to the independent Citizens Redistricting Commission.

Potential Local Impact: If enacted, the proposed changes could result in part of Pico Rivera, specifically areas south of Washington Boulevard, being represented by a different U.S. House Representative. This may lead to the City being represented by up to four different federal elected officials.
